Meghan Markle, 43, made a glamorous appearance at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala in support of her friend, Tyler Perry. The Duchess of Sussex wore a floor-length black dress and strappy black heels to celebrate Perry’s prestigious Paley Honors Award, the organization’s highest distinction.
Perry was honored for his groundbreaking achievements in media, including over 2,000 television episodes and 28 feature films. The event marked the first time Markle had appeared alongside her husband, Prince Harry, who was not present due to a prior engagement in New York City.
Markle praised Perry’s work, saying she felt grateful to have him as a friend. The couple has been friends for years and Perry is also the godfather of their 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet. Markle and Perry have collaborated on several projects, including the docuseries Harry & Meghan.
The Paley Honors “recognizes individuals whose groundbreaking achievements in media have consistently set the bar for excellence.” The event was attended by several celebrities, including Kerry Washington and George Lucas, who were also paying tribute to Perry’s work. Markle and Prince Harry were listed as tribute chairs alongside Goldberg, King, Henson, and other notable figures.
As Markle took selfies with guests, she chatted with others about their new dynamic, which her friend described as a “twin-track approach.” This means that while the couple is pursuing separate interests, they also share projects together. Perry will continue to champion his philanthropic work, while Markle focuses on entrepreneurial projects and commercial ventures.
The event marked a special moment in the relationship between Markle and Perry, who has been a source of support for the royal family during their transition out of royal duties.
