Meghan Opens Up About Rare Postpartum Preeclampsia on New Podcast

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has spoken about her experience with postpartum preeclampsia, a rare and potentially fatal condition, in the debut episode of her new podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder.” The condition is marked by elevated blood pressure and high levels of protein in the urine or other signs of organ damage.

Meghan shared her story with her friend Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of Bumble dating app, who also experienced postpartum preeclampsia. They discussed how the condition can be life-threatening if left untreated, emphasizing the importance of seeking medical attention immediately.

The Mayo Clinic states that most cases of postpartum preeclampsia develop within 48 hours of childbirth, but it can also occur four to six weeks after delivery. Meghan and her friend highlighted the need for awareness about this condition, which can cause seizures and other serious complications if left untreated.

Meghan’s new podcast is produced in partnership with Lemonada Media, featuring conversations with various guests, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The Duchess of Sussex has also been busy with recent projects, including a Netflix show “With Love, Meghan” which was renewed for a second season and her upcoming docuseries on Spotify.
