Memphis Grizzlies guard Jaylen Wells has been discharged from the hospital after suffering a broken wrist during a game on Tuesday night. The 2024 second-round draft pick, who is averaging 10.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, will be sidelined for an extended period.
The injury occurred when Simpson undercut Wells as he went up to dunk, causing him to lose his balance and land awkwardly on his side. Medical personnel were called to the scene and took Wells to a hospital, where he received treatment and was found to have movement in all of his extremities.
As a result of the incident, Simpson was ejected from the game for a flagrant foul 2, which comes with automatic ejection. The game was delayed by 23 minutes while officials reviewed the play, and the Grizzlies went on to win 124-100 against the Hornets.
