Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest design concept for Pope Benedict XVI’s G580 Popemobile. The electric drivetrain of this new vehicle harnesses the benefits of four near-wheel motors to provide a unique experience on slow journeys, ideal for public appearances. Key features include a centrally positioned single seat with swivelling functionality, providing flexible movement and multiple passenger capacity. A seamless roofless design complements the vehicle’s side profile, while a hardtop offers protection from the elements. The traditional coachbuilding style of the rear door adds to the Popemobile’s distinctive character.
