A rare celestial event is set to delight stargazers as Mercury, Venus, and Saturn align in the sky on Friday morning. According to NASA, the planets will be visible low in the eastern sky, with Venus and Saturn being the easiest to spot. For those with a clear view of the horizon, Mercury can also be observed hanging bright in the cosmos.
This rare alignment is one of a few planetary events happening this year, following a similar occurrence in February where all seven Earth’s planets were visible at once. Later in August, four planets including Jupiter will align.
Astronomers and stargazers are advised to wake up early on Friday morning to catch the planet parade. The event also coincides with other celestial sightings, including the Lyrid meteor shower and the Messier 3 globular cluster.
