Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has appointed three new members to the company’s board of directors, including UFC president Dana White and auto tycoon John Elkann. The move comes as Meta seeks to improve ties with President Donald Trump, a longtime fan of White.
White has built UFC into one of the most valuable sports enterprises in the world, according to Zuckerberg. He also attended major fights alongside Trump at Republican conventions and during his 2024 campaign. White’s ties with Trump date back to 2001 when he hosted a UFC event at Trump’s casino-hotel in Atlantic City.
Elkann, CEO of Exor and chairman of Stellantis and Ferrari, brings international business experience to Meta’s board, according to Zuckerberg. Tech investor Charlie Songhurst is also joining the board after previously working at Microsoft and advising Meta on artificial intelligence.
