Meta CEO Cracks Down on Apple Over Innovation and Rules

Mark Zuckerberg criticized tech giant Apple, accusing the company of lacking significant innovation and imposing arbitrary rules on developers. In a recent interview on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ Zuckerberg praised iPhones for revolutionizing global connectivity but criticized Apple for failing to produce groundbreaking products in recent years.

Zuckerberg argued that while iPhone sales were struggling due to a lack of major upgrades, Apple was profiting by “squeezing people” through a 30% commission on developers and pushing consumers to buy additional peripherals like AirPods. He also claimed that Meta’s profits could double if Apple stopped enforcing its rules.

The CEO further criticized Apple’s stance on privacy and security, arguing that the company was using this as a justification for restricting third-party developers. Zuckerberg suggested that Apple could resolve the issue by improving its protocols, such as enhancing security measures and using encryption.

Zuckerberg also mentioned the Vision Pro, Apple’s mixed-reality headset, which has had disappointing sales. He expressed skepticism about the product, saying it “did not hit it out of the park.”
