Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Warns of ‘Crazy Year’ Ahead

Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has outlined the company’s strategic priorities for 2025, including investments in artificial intelligence and data centers. In a meeting with over 70,000 employees, Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of adapting to changing policies and regulations. The CEO acknowledged that Meta will need to adjust its approach to align with the new presidential administration.

The company reported strong fourth-quarter earnings, with revenue climbing 21% year-over-year to $48.4 billion. However, Zuckerberg also defended some recent changes, including scaling back restrictions on online speech and ending diversity initiatives. He argued that these moves are necessary to avoid unlawful policies that favor certain groups.

Meta plans to lay off about 3,600 low-performing workers next month, citing a need to “raise the bar” on performance management. Zuckerberg emphasized the company’s commitment to developing important technologies, including AI, glasses as the next computing platform, and social media.

The rise of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has sparked concerns about Meta’s data center investments. However, Zuckerberg claimed that DeepSeek’s technological advancements have improved Meta’s AI models and support its open-source strategy. He believes that spending on data centers will be a competitive advantage for the company.
