Meta’s chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth, has sparked controversy after telling some employees that if they don’t agree with the company’s policies, they should “consider working elsewhere”. Bosworth made the comments in response to concerns raised by employees over recent policy changes, including a shift in internal Q&A sessions and cuts to data-backed diversity programs.
Bosworth shared his views on an internal Workplace forum, where he linked to an article about CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments on the company’s all-hands meeting. He expressed disappointment that some employees were upset about the change in format but believed it was necessary.
One employee responded by saying that they thought leaks were not productive and that employees who feel mistreated should consider leaving. Bosworth replied, saying that if you disagree with the policies, you can “leave or disagree and commit”. The exchange highlights the growing dissent among Meta employees over recent policy changes and Zuckerberg’s leadership style.
Meta has faced criticism for its handling of content moderation and free speech issues, with some employees expressing concerns about transphobic and homophobic policies. The company has also been accused of silencing critics through its internal communications channels. A spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.
