Meta has reorganized its AI organization into four new groups as part of a major restructuring effort. The move aims to enhance the company’s competitiveness in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
The new group, called Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), will be led by Alexandr Wang, who joined Meta as chief AI officer in June. MSL will focus on foundation models like Llama series, which had its latest release in April.
The other three groups within MSL will concentrate on research, product integration, and infrastructure, respectively. This reorganization comes after Meta invested significant resources into revamping its AI organization in recent months, with the goal of staying ahead of rivals such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind.
Mark Zuckerberg has been personally involved in recruitment for the new group, according to a June report from Bloomberg. The restructuring is part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to evolve and improve its position in the AI landscape.
