Meta is planning to equip its next-generation Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with a display, competing directly with Samsung’s upcoming AR glasses. The upgraded smart glasses will reportedly feature a display used for notifications and responses from Meta AI, and are expected to launch in the second half of 2025.
The new upgrade comes after Google showcased Android XR technology with Samsung, and follows the announcement of Samsung’s own XR headset, ‘Project Moohan’. Apple has also entered the market, leaving consumers eager to see how each company will improve their devices in the coming years. Meta previously showed off a prototype smart glasses model called ‘Project Orion’, which featured a projector display but was deemed too expensive for launch.
The new Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with display technology could provide an advantage for Meta in the XR market, especially if the technology is less advanced than its rival Project Orion’s display. As the competition heats up, consumers can expect significant advancements in VR and AR technology from top brands like Apple, Google, Meta, and Samsung.
