Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the company’s sales figures for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, which reached over 1 million units in 2024. The milestone marks a significant success for the wearable device, which was first launched in 2023. The new features added to the glasses since then have expanded its capabilities, including multimodal AI processing and live translations.
Zuckerberg believes that Meta’s dominance in this category is due to “basically inventing” it, with competitors yet to catch up. He expressed confidence that the company will continue to grow, potentially reaching sales of 2 million or more in 2025. The CEO also hinted at future releases, including a new pair of smart glasses codenamed Hypernova, which is expected to feature a heads-up display.
Meta’s plans for expanded wearables in 2025 are anticipated to include the release of this new device. Additionally, Bloomberg reports that Meta is working with Oakley on another smart glass project later this year.
