Mets Dominant in Home Opener, Beat Blue Jays 5-0

The New York Mets got off to a strong start in their home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, winning 5-0 behind two impressive performances from Pete Alonso and Juan Soto. Alonso hit a two-run homer early on, while Soto added an RBI double in his debut at Citi Field.

Tylor Megill pitched a dominant 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and earning his second win of the season. The Mets’ bullpen then took over, shutting down the Blue Jays to preserve the shutout. With the victory, the Mets improved their home opener record to 42-22.

Soto received a warm welcome from the crowd as he stepped up to the plate for his first at-bat in Queens since signing a massive contract last offseason. Alonso also drew a standing ovation after hitting his third homer in four games.

The win marked the end of the Blue Jays’ four-game winning streak and sets the stage for an intriguing series against the Mets next night.
