Miami Hurricanes athletic director Dan Radakovich and ACC commissioner Jim Phillips have expressed frustration over the team’s exclusion from the latest CFP rankings. Phillips stated that Miami deserves better, citing its stronger record of wins and fewer losses compared to No. 11 Alabama (9-3). The Hurricanes’ dominant victory over an SEC team, Florida, is also highlighted as a key factor.
Phillips emphasized that despite two close losses, the team’s overall performance justifies a playoff spot. He encouraged the CFP committee to reconsider Miami’s placement in the field and hopes they will evaluate their case again before the final rankings are announced.
CFP chairman Warde Manuel explained that teams not currently playing cannot be adjusted in terms of ranking. However, he noted that championship game results may influence reevaluation of certain teams. The committee is set to consider data points from games played during championship week.
