Micah Parsons Contract Standoff Takes Bizarre Turn at Preseason Game

Micah Parsons’ contract standoff with the Cowboys took a strange turn during their final preseason game on Friday night. The two-time All-Pro linebacker was seen walking into the stadium wearing a navy hoodie and eating nachos before the team faced off against the Falcons.

Parsons, who is seeking a lucrative multi-year contract extension, explained his actions on social media after the game in response to criticism from Dallas sports anchor Mike Leslie. Parsons stated that he appreciates how the media shapes perception but acknowledged that he would never disrespect players fighting for their lives.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer was unaware of Parsons’ antics and focused on the game, a 31-13 win. Cornerback Trevon Diggs revealed that Parsons had an MRI on his back, leaving his availability for Week 1 in doubt due to a potential back injury.

Owner Jerry Jones addressed the contract stalemate and Parsons’ trade request Friday, saying they won’t be trading him. He blamed Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta for causing tension by telling the Cowboys not to send an offer to their representative.

The situation has become ugly, with ESPN’s Ryan Clark claiming that Mulugheta never told Jones or any other general manager/owner about being uncooperative. The Cowboys could franchise tag Parsons if he seeks a new deal similar to T.J. Watt’s three-year $123 million pact.
