Micah Parsons Requests Trade Out of Dallas Cowboys After Contract Talks Stagnate

Micah Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, has requested a trade out of the Dallas Cowboys after contract talks with the team stalled. In a social media post on Friday, Parsons stated that he no longer wants to play for the Cowboys due to prolonged negotiations without his agent present.

Parsons is in the final year of his rookie contract worth $24.007 million in 2025, which is significantly below his market value. The Cowboys had an opportunity to offer him a big-money extension but failed to do so.

The pass rusher has expressed frustration with the team’s approach, stating that he was willing to negotiate without his agent present and did not believe it would lead to a formal contract discussion. However, despite initial talks, the conversation turned into discussions about contract details.

Parsons’ request for a trade is seen as a last resort, but if the Cowboys refuse to meet his demands, he may have to take nuclear measures such as sitting out part of the season or reporting late in an attempt to force a trade. The Raiders traded Khalil Mack in 2018 for multiple draft picks, and it’s likely that a similar deal would be required to pry Parsons from Dallas.

The Cowboys’ decision on how to proceed with Parsons is uncertain, but one thing is clear: his talent and marketability make him an attractive asset to other teams. Despite the risks of losing a key player, many teams may still be interested in acquiring Parsons, even if it means giving up significant draft picks or quality players.
