Michael Morales Set to Prove Himself Against Gilbert Burns

UFC prospect Michael Morales is ready to put his skills to the test against former title challenger Gilbert Burns in their highly anticipated bout on May 17. The 25-year-old Ecuadorian has built a reputation for his composure and well-rounded fighting style, earning him a spot in the top 10.

Morales’ undefeated record of 11 fights has garnered significant attention, but he remains focused on the task at hand, saying “I’m just taking opportunity by opportunity.” Despite facing tough opponents early in his career, Morales has shown maturity in his performances, including calculated knockouts and decision wins over seasoned veterans.

Burns, who has more UFC fights (23) than Morales has in his career, is a formidable opponent. However, Morales is not intimidated, stating “I know it’s going to be hard against an opponent like Gilbert.” He is confident in his abilities, saying “I’m going to show my best, my skills” and aims to prove himself as a contender in the welterweight division.

The bout marks an exciting milestone for Morales, who will face one of the most experienced fighters in his career. Should he emerge victorious, Morales will join the ranks of fresh faces vying for the title, including champion Jack Della Maddalena and contenders Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Machado Garry, Joaquin Buckley, Sean Brady, Kamaru Usman, Belal Muhammad, and Leon Edwards.

The fight is set to take place on May 17 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, with preliminary fights starting at 4pm ET/1pm PT and the main card kicking off at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
