Michigan Reports Two Influenza-Related Pediatric Deaths This Season

The state of Michigan has announced two pediatric influenza-related deaths for the 2024-2025 flu season. The two children who died were from Wayne and Genesee Counties, both contracting Influenza A (H1N1).

Investigations are ongoing into several more potential cases. Nationally, at least 57 children have died from the flu this season. Health officials stress that it’s not too late to get vaccinated if you haven’t already.

The latest data shows almost 10,000 hospital visits in Michigan due to the flu since its start. This number has increased weekly and stands at 2,586 as of February 1. To combat the high rates of flu, health officials are urging residents six months and older to get vaccinated.
