Microsoft Abandons Windows 10 Office Support in October 2025

Microsoft has announced that it will stop supporting Office apps on Windows 10 devices after the operating system reaches its end of support on October 14, 2025. To use Office 365 applications on a device, users must upgrade to Windows 11.

The company notes that Office apps will continue to function even after Windows 10 support ends but warns customers about potential performance and reliability issues unless they upgrade their PCs to Windows 11.

Microsoft has been pushing users to switch to Windows 11 since its October 2021 launch, citing security requirements such as TPM 2.0 support. Despite this, many users have resisted the transition due to the requirement for TPM 2.0.

However, Microsoft is providing a one-year extension for Windows 10 home users who pay $30 for Extended Security Updates (ESU). Specialized devices, including industrial and medical systems, will also receive updates beyond October 2025.

Users are advised to check if their Office suite installation remains unaffected by the support change.
