Microsoft Exchange Online Outage Affects Thousands of Outlook Web Users

Microsoft is investigating an ongoing outage preventing thousands of users from accessing their Exchange Online mailboxes. The issue, which started more than two hours ago, affects users attempting to log into their accounts, access the website, and trigger server connection problems.

According to Microsoft, the problem lies in a recent code change that caused an error. The company is working to revert the change and reviewing data from the reproduction to determine additional next steps.

Affected users may see “Something went wrong” error messages when trying to log into Outlook on the web. In another incident, users are experiencing errors when searching using Outlook on the web or the new Outlook client due to a code error in a recent update.

As a workaround for this issue, users can use filters in their search criteria to find results. The company has also partially mitigated a separate exchange online outage that is still causing delays and failures when sending or receiving email messages.

Initially, Microsoft linked a weekend outage impacting Outlook and Exchange Online authentication to a code issue. The company later mitigated another outage affecting Teams customers and causing call failures.

Microsoft has since reverted the buggy update, and the impact has been resolved for all affected users. The company stated that they successfully reverted the problematic code change and verified that the issue has been remediated through customer confirmation and service health telemetry.
