Microsoft Fixes Startup Failure Issue on Windows Server 2022 with NUMA Nodes

Microsoft has released updates to resolve a major startup failure issue affecting Windows Server 2022 systems with multiple Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) nodes. The bug caused problems with servers having two or more NUMA nodes, leading to startup failures.

The company addressed the issue through the release of update KB5052819, which directly fixes the startup failure problem. Additionally, a servicing stack update (SSU) called KB5050117 improves the installation process for updates.

For systems already updated, only the new updates in this package will be downloaded and installed on devices. NUMA is a memory architecture used in high-performance computing environments to optimize CPU and memory interaction.

Microsoft is also working to fix a boot issue in Windows Server 2025 that affects systems using iSCSI, causing “boot device inaccessible” errors.
