Microsoft has released a new “About” section in the Settings app for Windows 11, providing users with information about their computer’s hardware. The section includes spec cards and a FAQ section to help users understand how their components affect performance.
The new section was initially spotted earlier, but now it is available in Settings > About. Users can access specific questions related to their hardware, such as the latest version of Windows 11, RAM capacity, and graphics processing unit (GPU) capabilities.
However, some users have noted that certain answers, like those about the latest Windows version, seem out of date or unclear. For example, it only mentions that Windows 11 is the newest release without specifying any specific versions.
To access the updated “About” page, users must be on a specific build (26120.3576 or 22635.5090) and follow certain steps using the ViveTool tool from GitHub. The new section provides useful information for newcomers to the Windows ecosystem, while experienced users may find some answers redundant.
The FAQ section includes questions tailored to various hardware configurations, including those with low-end RAM capacities. Microsoft’s answers on RAM and GPU performance are generally accurate, but it would be beneficial if they provided more detailed information about separate Windows version lifecycles.
