Microsoft Introduces AI-Driven File Explorer Shortcuts in Windows 11

Microsoft is bringing artificial intelligence (AI) shortcuts to its popular File Explorer in Windows 11. These new shortcuts allow users to access various AI-powered features with a single right-click on a file. Currently, four image actions are being tested, including the ability to blur backgrounds and erase objects from photos.

Users will also be able to summarize content from Office files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, and generate lists from files, starting with Microsoft 365 commercial subscribers with a Copilot license. The feature is expected to roll out to consumer users later.

In addition to AI-driven shortcuts, the latest Dev Channel build of Windows 11 includes visual changes to the widgets feature, such as an organized, personalized feed with curated stories. A new “User Interaction-Aware CPU Power Management” feature also reduces power consumption on laptops and tablets by automatically conserving energy while the PC is inactive.

The updates bring AI-powered assistance to Microsoft’s File Explorer, aiming to enhance user productivity and experience.
