Microsoft is bringing OpenAI’s o1 reasoning model, known as Think Deeper, to all Copilot users this week. The feature, which was previously only available to paid Copilot Pro subscribers, will now be free for everyone.
Think Deeper was launched in October as a premium feature inside Copilot Labs, where users could test new features before they were released to the public. However, Microsoft has decided to make it accessible to all users at no extra cost.
When activated, Think Deeper allows Copilot to provide step-by-step answers to complex questions, making it useful for tasks such as comparing two options, creating code for apps, or planning a long road trip. The feature can take up to 30 seconds to consider a question from multiple angles and perspectives.
Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman announced the change in a LinkedIn post yesterday, stating that tens of millions of users will now have access to this powerful tool. The company has plans for more updates, but no specific details were provided at this time.
