Microsoft Removes Bypassnro Script from Windows 11 Dev Channel

Microsoft has released a new Windows Insider build to its experimental Dev Channel, introducing several features and tweaks. However, the most notable change is the removal of the bypassnro.cmd script, which allowed users to circumvent the mandatory Microsoft Account sign-in requirement.

The script’s removal is considered a feature enhancement by Windows Insider Program lead Amanda Langowski and Principal Product Manager Brandon LeBlanc, aimed at improving security and user experience. This change ensures that all users exit setup with internet connectivity and a Microsoft Account.

This move may inconvenience those who prefer to use local accounts without Internet connectivity or a Microsoft Account. Benefits of using a Microsoft Account include access to Microsoft 365 subscriptions, automated encryption, and syncing settings between PCs. Using a local account reduces notifications and upsells from Windows 11.

As this feature is no longer available in future versions, users will need to find alternative workarounds for setting up Windows without Internet connectivity or a Microsoft Account.
