Microsoft has released two builds for Windows Insiders on Fridays, with one available in the Dev Channel and the other in the Beta Channel. The Beta build, which comes under the KB5046745 update, includes various improvements for File Explorer and the taskbar.
Notable changes include the addition of a new “New Folder” option to the context menu when right-clicking locations in the navigation pane. Additionally, issues affecting explorer.exe reliability have been addressed, including an issue that caused crashes when right-clicking on apps in the taskbar.
In File Explorer, Microsoft has also fixed several problems, such as unexpected updates to file date and time properties after copying files, and issues with theme changes impacting icon visibility. The company has also made performance improvements to context menu launch and navigation, as well as resolved an issue that triggered repeated searches.
Furthermore, the update includes fixes for Snipping Tool screenshot distortions on certain displays and has addressed an underlying issue affecting widget text overlap in the taskbar on secondary monitors.
The complete changelog can be found on the official Windows Blogs website.
