Microsoft has released a new optional update for Windows 11 24H2, bringing several notable changes to the operating system. The update, known as KB5052093, introduces new camera features that allow multiple apps to use the camera simultaneously and provides a “basic camera” mode to troubleshoot issues.
In addition to camera improvements, the update also brings enhancements to the taskbar and File Explorer. Users can now share files directly from a drop-down menu when right-clicking on an app, and File Explorer has improved performance with faster thumbnails and bug fixes.
However, some users have noticed that Microsoft is integrating ads for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass into Windows 11. These ads are expected to appear only for users who have the subscription service and are logged in with their corresponding Microsoft account.
The update also includes several other bug fixes and improvements, such as resolving issues with HDDs being incorrectly listed as SSDs in Task Manager.
As this is an optional update, users will need to manually install it via Windows Update or download the installer from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The full list of improvements and bug fixes can be found on Microsoft’s support page.
