Microsoft Teams Up with Anduril Industries for Enhanced IVAS Program

Microsoft Corp. has partnered with defense technology leader Anduril Industries to drive the next phase of the U.S. Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program. Under the agreement, Anduril will assume oversight of production, development, and delivery timelines.

The partnership aims to address the growing need for intuitive and information-rich tools in modern warfare. Traditional mission command systems are ill-suited to the complex nature of modern battlefields. The IVAS program represents a significant step forward, providing soldiers with a comprehensive system that integrates advanced augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) capabilities.

Anduril’s expertise in defense technology and manufacturing will complement Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities, ensuring continuity in the program while advancing IVAS goals of enhancing combat effectiveness, awareness, and decision-making. Artificial intelligence will be foundational to all technical innovations for national security missions.

The collaboration leverages the strengths of both companies, with Anduril bringing its unique approach to manufacturing defense products and Microsoft providing a robust backbone of cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities. The partnership aims to deliver a game-changing capability for every U.S. soldier, empowering them to make faster, smarter decisions on the battlefield.

Microsoft’s Azure will be the preferred hyperscale cloud for all workloads related to IVAS and Anduril AI technologies, offering high resilience, sophisticated capabilities, flexibility, and advanced security designed to meet stringent compliance requirements.
