Microsoft will make two changes to its Windows 10 operating system as part of upcoming security updates. The new Outlook app will replace the Mail & Calendar app on Windows 10, while a calendar feature with weather forecasts and holiday illustrations will be added to the taskbar.
The changes come as Windows 10’s end-of-life support is approaching on October 14th. Microsoft has been warning users about the need to upgrade or switch to a different platform due to the operating system’s limited lifespan.
In addition to these changes, other features such as improved calendar functionality and bug fixes have also been added to Windows 10. The new Outlook app will be installed automatically with an optional update on January 28th, while another security update on February 11th will install it on more PCs.
Despite the changes, some users may still find the new Outlook app frustrating, particularly those who dislike its features. Microsoft has stopped supporting the classic Outlook app and plans to replace it with the new one as well.
The upcoming updates are part of Windows 10’s ongoing effort to improve security and user experience before the operating system reaches end-of-life support.
