Microsoft has introduced a range of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to Windows 11 as part of its latest update. These features aim to enhance productivity and simplify everyday computing tasks.
The update includes Copilot Vision, now available on all Windows 11 devices through the Copilot app. This tool uses AI to analyse content displayed on the screen and allow users to ask questions aloud about anything visible across multiple apps or webpages. Users can also guide users through tasks on their computer.
For those with Snapdragon-powered devices, including Copilot Plus PCs, a new AI-powered agent is embedded in the Settings app. This feature allows users to search for settings using natural language commands, offering a more seamless experience.
The update also improves the “Click to Do” preview on Copilot Plus PCs, allowing users to quickly perform actions such as summarising a selected paragraph or scheduling a meeting. New capabilities include practising reading fluency and pronunciation using the Reading Coach tool and generating a document draft in Microsoft Word through Copilot.
Additionally, Paint receives an AI-powered sticker generator and object selection tool, while the Photos app includes an AI-based lighting option to automatically enhance image quality. The Snipping Tool gains a “perfect screenshot” feature using AI to capture content on screen more accurately.
Microsoft is also releasing features for all Windows 11 users, including a colour picker tool within the Snipping Tool and a system mechanism that can automatically detect and resolve problems causing unexpected PC restarts. These updates will be rolled out over the next month, with some features available through Windows’ latest non-security preview update or in the Microsoft Store.
