Microsoft has released two new builds of Windows 11 to test its features with users in the Insider channels. The first build, version 22635.4950 (KB5052078), is heading to the Beta Channel and offers improved cloud search functionality. This feature allows users to search for files by description, not just filename.
However, this update comes with a warning: Recall’s snapshot system will be erased during the upgrade process. Users will need to start over with their stored snapshots.
The more advanced build, version 26120.3291 (KB5052080), is available in both the Beta and Dev Channels and introduces two new features. The first is a revamped Share interface that allows users to drag and drop files instead of right-clicking and selecting options.
This feature seems similar to Windows Snap, where users can divide their screen into multiple sections by dragging their mouse. Microsoft has also tweaked the Start menu with a new grid view organized alphabetically and an “auto-organized” categories view.
In this latter feature, apps will be categorized based on how frequently they’re used. Users who receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 in the Dev and Beta Channels can expect to see these changes soon, provided their toggle is enabled within Windows Update.
