Microsoft has finally revealed its long-rumored handheld console, the ROG Xbox Ally, after years of speculation. The device will allow gamers to access their Game Pass subscription library on-the-go, providing hundreds of games at launch.
The ROG Xbox Ally is being made in partnership with Asus and will be released in late 2025. Two versions of the device are available: the base ROG Xbox Ally with 16GB memory and 512GB storage, and the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X with 24GB memory and double the storage.
While the handheld console runs on Windows, allowing access to PC games not available elsewhere, it may be heavier than expected at 670g and 715g. The price of the device remains unknown, but is likely to be higher for the more powerful version.
Microsoft announced several new games during its showcase event, including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, Ninja Gaiden 4, Outer Worlds 2, and a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Additionally, fans will have to wait 17 years to see the highly-anticipated Persona 4 remake.
The Xbox Ally handheld console aims to provide gamers with a new way to play their favorite games on-the-go, leveraging Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service.
