Microsoft has updated its support page to help users upgrade their unsupported devices to Windows 11. The company has added a waiver that users must sign before proceeding with the installation, acknowledging that they understand the risks of compatibility issues and losing support.
The new page explains the process in detail, including running the Recovery menu for troubleshooting and provides a step-by-step guide on how to go back to Windows 10 within 10 days after upgrading. However, Microsoft warns that bypassing these limitations may not be possible due to hardware restrictions such as outdated processors lacking PopCnt and SSE4.2 instructions support.
The changes come as Microsoft seeks to encourage users to upgrade to its latest operating system, despite the lackluster performance of Windows 11 in recent Statcounter data.
