Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, according to ESPN sources. This marks his return to the team after spending seven years with the Chargers from 2017 to 2023. Williams had previously played for the Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers but struggled to find consistency in New York before being traded.
During his time with the Steelers, Williams made a notable impact in his debut game, scoring a winning touchdown catch against Washington Commanders. However, he saw limited playing time for the rest of the season. Despite durability issues, including an ACL tear in 2023, Williams has recorded 32 touchdown catches and 5,104 receiving yards over the first eight years of his NFL career.
Williams reunites with quarterback Justin Herbert in a Chargers receivers group that includes Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston. The deal provides stability to the team’s passing game, which is expected to be a focus for the Chargers moving forward.
