Mikey Madison Hosts SNL with Morgan Wallen and Various Sketches

Saturday Night Live (SNL) returned to Studio 8H for its three-episode stretch, hosted by Academy Award-winning actress Mikey Madison. The show featured a mix of sketches, musical performances, and Weekend Update segments.

Madison opened the show dressed as Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants, which led into a series of games and challenges with her “squid buddies.” She also brought out contestants on her game show “So Like…What Are We?” featuring her current dating life.

The musical performances included two new singles by Morgan Wallen: “Just in Case” and “Pop’s Big Regret.” Both songs showcased Wallen’s ability to craft catchy, emotive tracks. The animated short film “Planning New York” was another highlight of the show.

As for sketches, several segments stood out, including the “Weekend Update” segment that tackled Signalgate, Only Fans, and TikTok trends. The “Hear Me Out” segment on Paddington was also notable for its clever commentary.

Despite a few duds, such as “Barry the Midwife,” which felt overly silly, the show overall delivered a solid performance from Madison and the cast. However, some viewers might find the return to be a bit subdued or repeat-heavy.
