Miles Kelly Returns to Rupp for NCAA Tournament Opener

Auburn returns to the site of its greatest game, taking on Alabama State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are led by 10 seniors, including career-high 9 three-pointers maker Miles Kelly, who is excited to be back at Rupp Arena. Auburn’s strong season, which saw them win the SEC regular season championship, has given the team confidence and preparedness for the tournament.

“We know the job we have to do,” said Denver Jones, whose 41.6% 3-point percentage leads the team. “We’ve all got the same mindset as far as making it to the championship game.” The Tigers face a familiar opponent in Alabama State, who they beat by 20 points last season.

Auburn coach Bruce Pearl emphasizes that defense and rebounding will be key to their success. “This team is prepared. This team is confident,” he said. The No.1 overall seed Auburn looks to bring home the national championship, but recognizes that losing at any point in the tournament could prevent this goal from being achieved.

The Tigers will face 16th-seeded Alabama State on Thursday at 1:50 p.m. CT on CBS and the Auburn Sports Network.
