Miley Cyrus Aims for Healing and Redemption on ‘Something Beautiful’

Miley Cyrus has spent her career pushing boundaries with drastic musical transformations, from the teen-pop of Hannah Montana to the experimental indie-rock of Dead Petz. Her latest album, Something Beautiful, marks a new direction in her artistic journey. This time, she’s aiming higher than ever, exploring themes of healing, beauty, and redemption.

Inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Cyrus has created a concept album that seeks to medicate a troubled culture through music. With the help of producer Shawn Everett and an all-star ensemble, including Flea, Danielle Haim, and Brittany Howard, she’s crafted songs that are both deeply personal and universally relatable.

The album begins with the poetic “Prelude,” where Cyrus shares her thoughts on letting go of the past and moving forward. This is followed by a series of tracks that showcase her growth as an artist, from the electro-infused self-esteem anthem “Walk of Fame” to the laid-back, Giorgio Moroder-inspired disco track “Easy Lover.”

The album’s title track, “Something Beautiful,” begins with a soft neo-soul ballad before flipping into distorted electro-noise. Meanwhile, “More to Lose” is an epic Eighties-style power ballad that addresses the end of a relationship, while “Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved” features Naomi Campbell in a show-stopping disco duet.

Throughout the album, Cyrus sings about finding beauty in darkness and keeping her chin up even in times of trouble. This message of redemption makes Something Beautiful a bold swerve in one of pop’s most unpredictable careers. With its all-star lineup and genre-bending sound, this album is Miley Cyrus’ most ambitious and introspective work to date.

June 6 will mark the release of a companion film of the same name, further cementing Cyrus’ commitment to exploring themes of healing and redemption through her art.
