Miley Cyrus recently shared a harrowing story from her past about how fame took a toll on her life and relationships. In an interview with Monica Lewinsky, Cyrus recalled the difficulties she faced in 2013, when she was struggling to cope with the consequences of her choices as a performer.
Cyrus revealed that she lost “everything” in her personal life due to her professional decisions, including losing her romantic partners who felt uncomfortable with her explicit performances. She also had trouble facing her family members, particularly her father and grandparents, due to feelings of embarrassment and shame.
To deal with these emotions, Cyrus turned to EMDR therapy, which helped her heal from traumatic experiences and related symptoms like PTSD. The therapy allowed her to reprocess her thoughts and emotions, effectively “deleting” the guilt and shame folder in her mind.
Cyrus also shared how her public image was affected by her performances, with loyal fans turning on her after she left Disney Channel and started releasing more provocative music. There was even a petition to get her banned from television, which Cyrus believes was an attempt to sabotage her career.
Despite the challenges, Cyrus has made significant progress in healing and growth since then. Her latest album, “Something Beautiful,” is about healing and recovery, and she credits it with helping her find closure and inner peace.
