Millions Flock to Windows 11 Amid Threats of Data Breaches

Microsoft’s push to migrate hundreds of millions of Windows 10 users to Windows 11 is gaining traction, with more Americans now using the newer operating system than ever before. A critical milestone was reached when Windows 11 surpassed Windows 10 in the US market share.

According to Stacounter’s data, Windows 11’s user base grew from 42% in February to 54% by March, while Windows 10’s US market share dropped from 66% to 44%. This shift reflects Microsoft’s efforts to highlight the security benefits of upgrading to a more modern OS like TPM 2.0.

The company has warned users that failing to upgrade will leave them vulnerable to “data breaches, identity theft, and other serious consequences.” Despite this warning, millions have taken notice, and the US is no longer a concern for Microsoft’s upgrade efforts.

However, the situation remains dire in Europe and Asia, where Windows 10 still holds significant market share. With an October 14 deadline looming, Microsoft must replicate the success seen in the US to address the global push for upgrading.
