Min Woo Lee Leads by Four Shots at Houston Open

Min Woo Lee is poised to win his first PGA Tour title after a stunning third round performance at the Houston Open, opening up a four-shot lead over his competitors. The Australian carded a 7-under-par 63, recording a birdie or par at every hole, and outpaced overnight leader Scottie Scheffler.

Lee’s impressive third round follows a long day of competition, as he finished the last two holes of the second round on Saturday morning and teed off again later that day. “Today was a really long day,” Lee joked afterwards. “I might have to do two warm ups, two physio sessions, and then maybe I can shoot seven-under all the time.”

Lee, who has never won a PGA Tour tournament in 55 starts, has shown flashes of his potential this season, including finishing tied for sixth at the 2023 Players Championship and tied for fifth at the 2023 US Open. He will tee off on Sunday with a four-shot lead over Scheffler, Ryan Gerard, and Ryan Fox, with Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti one shot back in second.

For Lee, the final round promises to be a challenge. “It’s tough… we finished at 8pm last night and have to wake up at 5am,” he said, expressing his fatigue after just five or six hours of sleep. Despite this, Lee is hopeful for a good night’s rest before the deciding round on Sunday, which begins at 1:01pm ET.
