MindsEye, a near-future action game from Build A Rocket Boy studio founder Leslie Benzies, has finally announced a release date of June 10th this year. However, the excitement is tempered by concerns over the game’s availability and its resemblance to Grand Theft Auto (GTA).
Originally intended as an episodic release available on platforms including Everywhere, MindsEye will now be launched solo on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game’s official website makes no mention of Everywhere, sparking questions about whether users will still be able to create their own games using the assets featured in MindsEye.
The latest trailer introduces players to the game’s city setting, primarily through cutscenes, with limited gameplay footage available. The trailer has raised eyebrows due to its similarity to GTA, with some speculating that publisher IO Interactive may have pushed Build A Rocket Boy to release a game quickly to generate revenue.
Furthermore, there were concerns over Everywhere utilizing blockchain technology for research purposes, which was allegedly not used in MindsEye. Although the studio claims this is the case, players are advised to exercise caution when pre-ordering the game due to its mysterious and slightly off-putting atmosphere.
