The new “A Minecraft Movie” has become a sensation among young moviegoers, with some viewers getting rowdy during screenings. One Cineworld theater in Oxfordshire has issued a warning to patrons, stating that any anti-social behavior will not be tolerated and could result in being removed from the venue without a refund.
Videos of enthusiastic moviegoers clapping, shouting, and throwing popcorn have gone viral on social media, sparking a trend. The film’s star, Jack Black, is often referenced during pivotal moments of the movie.
Other cinemas are taking similar measures to maintain a respectful atmosphere. REEL cinema has announced that it will be increasing monitoring of screens during performances and will ask anyone causing disruption to leave.
The film’s success is attributed to its instant blockbuster performance, grossing $162 million in its domestic debut and $313 million worldwide. Warner Bros.’ embattled film bosses celebrated the success in a company-wide memo, hailing it as a “world-class achievement”. The movie is now playing in theaters nationwide.
