Minecraft Movie Sets Box Office Record

A Minecraft movie adaptation is making waves before its release at CinemaCon. According to Fandango, Warner Bros.’ and Legendary Pictures’ film has become the best PG-rated ticket pre-seller of 2025, surpassing other highly-anticipated titles like Dog Man and Snow White.

The movie, starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Danielle Brooks, is expected to open with $60 million+ at the box office. Its popularity among females under 35 (62%) and males under 35 (66%) makes it a top priority for theatergoers. The film’s awareness is also high among video game fans.

Directed by Jared Hess, the movie ranks among the best ticket pre-sellers for a video game adaptation of all time on Fandango. It joins other successful films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

“We’re seeing overwhelming anticipation for A Minecraft Movie,” said Jerramy Hainline, EVP of Fandango. “The fact that audiences are excited to immerse themselves in the Minecraft world on the big screen is no surprise, given the game’s massive popularity.”
