A popular video game has become a movie sensation, but some fans are taking it too far. Theater owners and directors are sounding the alarm about disruptions during screenings of “A Minecraft Movie,” including yelling, screaming, throwing objects, and even dressing up as characters. Josh Gunderson, director of marketing and events at Oviedo Mall, called for an end to such behavior, citing destruction of theaters and disruption of the movie-going experience. Even actor Jack Black, who voices a character in the film, chimed in on Twitter, urging fans to keep their excitement in check. Regal Cinemas has responded by hosting “Chicken Jockey Screenings” on April 20, where fans can express their enthusiasm without causing chaos.
