Miss Oregon Competition Celebrates 78 Years of Empowering Young Women

The annual Miss Oregon and Miss Oregon’s Teen competition kicked off in Seaside, showcasing a journey that began in 1947 as a way to attract tourists to the small town. Over the years, the pageant has transformed into a life-changing experience for young women, providing $150,000 in scholarships.

Miss Oregon contestants, including Mila Pearl and Mya Cash, share their experiences of how the competition helped them gain confidence and pursue their dreams. Pearl, last year’s Miss Oregon’s Teen, is now attending Fordham University with support from her scholarship funds, while Cash is pursuing a college education at New Hope Christian College.

The pageant not only emphasizes talent shows but also service initiatives, where contestants pick projects to raise awareness and volunteer for causes they care about. The competition aims to make itself accessible to Oregonians by offering local wardrobes at reduced prices and pairing contestants with mentors for free.

This year’s Miss Oregon competition is set to culminate in a finale on Saturday, featuring the parade through town and the final show of talent. Tickets are available, ranging from $40 to $80, or can be streamed for $100.
