A missile fired from Yemen hit Tel Aviv’s southern Jaffa area overnight, according to Israeli authorities. The projectile was labeled “Palestine 2” and aimed at an Israeli military target in the area.
At least a dozen people sustained minor injuries, with over 30 treated for glass fragment injuries or panic attacks. Despite extensive air defenses, intercept attempts failed shortly after sirens sounded in the area.
Residents reported hearing sirens but the missile exploded before they could flee their homes. The Houthi forces, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the strike, saying it hit its target accurately and Israel’s defenses failed to intercept it.
The incident is part of a larger conflict between Israel and Iran-backed militant groups in Lebanon and Yemen, which have launched attacks on Israel since October last year. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and widespread destruction in Gaza and Lebanon.
