Colorado Avalanche forward Mitch Mittelstadt has been traded to the Boston Bruins. The 26-year-old forward, who signed a three-year contract with the Avalanche in June 2024, can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 season.
Mittelstadt had 34 points in 63 games for the Avalanche this season, and expressed excitement about joining the storied franchise with a rich tradition. He also cited the presence of familiar teammates as helping him make the transition.
The Bruins traded several players on Friday, including Chris Coyle, Brad Marchand, and Brandon Carlo, leaving Mittelstadt hoping to capitalize on new opportunities. Head coach Joe Sacco plans to utilize Mittelstadt’s offensive capabilities, particularly on power plays.
Mittelstadt aims to find consistency in his game and generate offense for the Bruins. As a key contributor, he is expected to make an impact on the team’s playoff push.
