Apple has a new update for its CarPlay system, and it brings significant changes to the table. iOS 26 will support displaying app widgets, customizing icon appearance, and even video playback, depending on the automaker’s preferences.
Unlike its ultra-rare sibling, standard CarPlay is gaining widespread support with this update. Aston Martin vehicles are among those that will benefit from the new features.
For now, EVs do not have CarPlay Ultra support. However, it’s worth noting that MKBHD reviewed one of the select Aston Martin vehicles that supports CarPlay Ultra in a previous video. If you’re interested in learning more about his experience with the ultra-rare system, you can check out his Auto Focus channel.
In the meantime, the iOS 26 update is available to all users who have the latest software on their devices. The new features will be rolled out automatically, so you don’t need to take any additional steps to get them.
