Major League Baseball teams with low payrolls are also perceived as having a bad reputation among players. The Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox, and Athletics received the most negative votes from polled players.
The A’s, who play in a minor-league ballpark, were named as one of the worst-represented teams by 39 players out of 115 respondents. One player mentioned that he knew someone who had been traded to the A’s organization as a minor league player and described their experience as “difficult.”
Other teams with low payrolls also received negative votes from players. The Marlins, for example, were seen as having a bad reputation due to concerns about player safety and working conditions.
The MLB Player Poll highlights the challenges faced by some teams in maintaining a positive work environment despite their limited financial resources.
