“Moana 2” Becomes Sixth-Biggest Movie of the Year

Disney’s animated sequel “Moana 2” has reached $600 million in global ticket sales after just two weeks, becoming the sixth-biggest movie of the year. The film generated $300 million overseas and $300 million domestically, surpassing its predecessor’s lifetime gross of $643 million worldwide.

The movie added significant funds from international markets, including France, which took in $32.5 million, followed by the UK, Germany, and Mexico. On the other hand, Warner Bros.’ anime fantasy film “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” struggled with only $2 million from 31 territories.

Universal’s adaptation of “Wicked” surpassed $400 million worldwide, while Paramount’s sequel to “Gladiator” continued its international success. Amazon MGM’s Christmas-set action comedy “Red One” collected $78.2 million globally, despite a budget of over $250 million. The film was initially intended for streaming before its theatrical release.

The performances of these movies highlight the varying levels of success in the global box office, with some films achieving significant funds and others struggling to gain traction.
